Free tools to improve teaching

Free technology can help teachers to be creative!

Hi everyone!! Welcome to my blog. Are you familiar with free technology?? If you want to be a creative and challenging teacher, you're in the right place. Enjoy my blog!!

Today, I found interesting blogs written by Richard Byrne. He previously worked as a consultant for teachers to help integrate technology into their teaching methodologies. After his tenure as a consultant, he wanted to put the skills and technologies that he has picked up over the years into a blog so as to help other teachers enrich and improve the teaching experience for children. These tools are curated items that he's found to be extremely practical for teachers so that they can streamline the processes that they usually do to mere minutes. His aim is to spread the knowledge far and wide and improve teaching for everyone.

Here's a link to his blogpost

Summary

Too much information can sometimes confuse readers, but URLs will make the blog much simpler and only those who want to know about the information in detail can go further. Colourful photos and headlines are also appealing to readers and make it more interesting and stimulating to read the blogs.  I could not find any comments on his blogs. It seems that there are those who try to pretend to put comments on other blogs and put their advertisements instead, so that some bloggers do not have 'comments area' to avoid this. But, I think it can be exciting and stimulating to listen to your readers and if possible, have a little chat with them. In addition, because anyone all around the world can see your blogs once they are published online and exposed to them, authenticity is quite essential. Adding 'comments area' and corrections from others might help you to make your blogs even more accurate and precise so that I would add the commenting area in my blog.

  1. Hi Yuki, I like your blog. The red subtitles are a nice touch. The only thing I would suggest is may be the intro text could be the same size and colour as the text under your sub-headings? But a great start :)

  2. Hi Yukiko - you've made a great start with this really good review of Richard Byrne's blog. I like the way you start with questions to draw the reader in. It was also great that you had done a little background research to tell us more about how Richard Byrne got started on blogging - that kind of detail is always interesting and useful to readers. The main body with the coloured subheadings looks very smart so perhaps I would use that theme throughout the whole post. I agree with your point about comments - they can be a really important part of a blog (see the comments on Scott Thornbury's A - Z of ELT blog) but unfortunately a lot of 'bots' just fill them up with spam and so I fully understand it when a blogger turns them off. Hopefully though on your blog, you will get a lot of interaction! Well done for doing your first post!
